2012 XL Intern Training

Beginning this year the focus of our annual training conference is changing in order to zero in on our primary pursuit: leadership development for those in, or in training for, full‐time ministry. Thus, we will not host a general family Bible Conference, as we have done in past years.

Instead, we will hold the 2012 XL Intern Training in Southlake, Texas, February 16-17, 2012. This is immediately prior to The Essentials Conference, which is hosted by Countryside Bible Church in Southlake. The Essentials Conference Series examines six core biblical priorities that are essential to spiritual health and growth. There are sessions for adults as well as a special eKIDS Program for preschool and primary children. The 2012 Essentials Conference will focus on Bible Study.

Session Descriptions

The three training sessions are specifically designed for our current interns, former interns, and others involved in ministry. If you think one or more of these sessions would be particularly helpful for you, we would love to have you join us! There is no cost for either the XL Intern Training or the CBC Essentials Conference, but you do need to register as soon as possible - between now and February 10, 2012.

• Logos 4.0 Training (Chris Riser)
  Thursday, Feb 16^th, 1:30 – 5:00 pm
  This class is designed to teach both basic and advanced use of Logos 4.0 Bible Software for the purpose of pursuing in-depth Bible study. The training will center around a specific means of study which is designed to produce a Sunday School lesson or sermon (text observation, block outlining, word study, cross referencing, personal analysis, commentary analysis, principlization, and application).
  Minimum requirements include: laptop running Windows XP, Vista, 7, or Mac operating system; Logos 4.0 (not Libronix or previous versions), a word processing program.
  Anyone serious about Bible study, who has Logos 4.0, will benefit from the class.
   
  
• Critical Elements for Pastoral Counseling (Rocky Wyatt)
  Friday, Feb 17^th, 8:30 – 11:30 am
  Counseling people in the midst of life's challenges is a major responsibility for the pastor. It is critical that we approach the responsibility with the greatest of care and biblical integrity. This class focuses on these critical elements and is specifically designed for pastors and those who desire to be pastors.
   
  
• Preaching (Brian Murphy)
  Friday, Feb 17^th, 1:30 – 5:00 pm
  This workshop is for anyone who preaches, or desires to preach. You will learn the biblical foundation and priority of preaching in the church. You will learn how to organize and develop life-changing sermons based upon and bounded by careful biblical interpretation. You will also learn how to communicate the relevance of the biblical message to your contemporary audience, and to deliver that message in a natural and effective manner.
