I have been involved with youth ministry since 1984. I grew up in a family where my parents made it a priority to be involved in church and church activities. I always knew God existed and that Jesus Christ was an important religious figure, but I never made the connection of His deity and the importance of His work on the cross. While I was in high school my family began attending a new church. This church was committed to teaching God's Word. As a result of hearing God's Word taught, I finally understood who Jesus Christ is and why He chose to die on the cross. For the first time in my life I was confronted with my sinfulness and the need for forgiveness.

By God's grace, when I was 17 years old I trusted in the forgiveness that He offers through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. Since that time, by being involved in studying His Word and growing in my personal relationship with Christ, I realize that there is more to my salvation than just having the opportunity to go to heaven. Salvation is a life style that is to emulate the life of Christ during this time on earth. God has given me a heart to impart the truth of His Word to others, knowing that His Word is the only source that is sufficient for a life of godliness.

I have been married to Carla since 1985 and we have three children, Michael, Christopher, and Rachel.

2 Timothy 2:1-2 is a passage that continues to encourage me in life and ministry. “You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.”
